Happy Labor Day!

Help Democrats Take Back The House!

Dear Friends,

Every day — and especially on Labor Day — we honor America's workers and the unions that built America's middle class which has a union label on it and is the backbone of our Democracy. Labor unions built our country's ladders of opportunity with our shared values of community, dignity and justice that bind us as Americans. We are all in this together.

This is a challenging time for America’s working families.

Since the current occupant of the White House barged back into office, his Administration has waged a direct and illegal assault on unions and the rights of workers. Trump and Republicans have stripped collective bargaining from hundreds of thousands of our public servants — including those who care for our veterans, many of them veterans themselves. They gutted the agencies that keep workers safe. They hollowed out protections that generations of union members fought and sacrificed to win. And just this week, the President who sleeps through his own press events actually said that America has too many holidays and not enough working hours; that Americans have a productivity problem.

So let’s be clear about a few facts here: Because of Trump’s policy and leadership failures, Americans are working more hours than ever for paychecks that buy less than ever. Groceries cost more. Gas costs more. Rent, utilities, child care, premiums — all of it costs more, while Republicans have stripped vital health coverage and food aid from millions of Americans.

America’s workers don’t have a productivity problem — Donald Trump and his MAGA billionaire donors are greedy and will never feel that they have enough. The 8-hour day was not a favor from a President. The weekend was not a gift from the billionaire class. The Labor Day is not a scheduling error. Every one of these milestones for workers was won by working people who refused to let anyone else own their time or their very lives.

Families are falling behind right now not because workers failed, but because Republicans and their billionaires-first policies have failed them.

To put it plainly: Democrats are on the side of America's working families — and Republicans are on the side of Donald Trump and their MAGA billionaire donors.

Democrats will always fight for good-paying jobs, for collective bargaining, for quality healthcare and for dignity at work and in retirement. Trump and Republicans keep coming after unions because dictators always go after unions first, because people who can bargain together cannot be bought and defeated alone. The Labor Movement is vital to our Democracy and to our path to victory in the midterms. Republicans are betting that we are discouraged. They are betting that we will not show up. They are wrong.

Our Founders gave the President four years — but they gave the House of Representatives just two. That was deliberate. In our Constitution, they built the People's House to answer to the people at the shortest interval, so that halfway through any presidency the American people could render their verdict in a referendum on the president.

Hardworking Americans need a Congress that works for them — not against them. So on November 3rd, we can and we will put a legislative check on Trump and his minions — with Hakeem Jeffries as Speaker of the House.

Working families have delivered our Democratic victories before — knocking on doors, working the phones, texting and talking to neighbors. You are the most trusted messenger they will ever hear from. So I am asking you do it again!

Every voter should check your registration. Sign up for a canvass or phone banking shift. Talk to five coworkers who don't usually vote. Chat with your neighbor about the elections. Do this again and again for the next several weeks ahead of early voting and election day on November 3rd! >>>  ( hyperlink paragraph to https://linktr.ee/teampelosi )

Unions have been and remain a force for good in our country. On this Labor Day, thank you for your patriotism — with special thanks to the more than 1.2 million working veterans who are union members.

We don't agonize — we organize! And we unionize!

Now, let's go win this election! God bless our workers and God bless America.

Happy Labor Day,

NANCY
