Dear Friends,

Rather than honoring his campaign vow to bring costs down and work on fixing problems here at home, the President began a war of choice with Iran instead that is showing no signs of ending any time soon – and he did this without Congressional approval. After working to abolish the constitutional role of the Congress this past year, Trump’s latest offense is an extreme abuse of power, an act of disrespect and disregard for our military and an egregious waste of taxpayer dollars that should be going toward restoring vital health care for millions of Americans.

Sadly, the toll of this ill-advised war of choice, rising costs and a strained job market are not the only problems that Americans are facing from Trump and Republicans’ failed policies.

In order to avoid accountability, Trump and Republicans are doubling down on sowing chaos and disruption in our communities by attacking our Democracy. With seven months to go until the midterm elections in which Democrats fully intend to take back the House, we are fighting back and remain focused on delivering on the needs of the American people – because we will save our Democracy at the kitchen table as we bring down the cost of living.

House Democrats have also been standing strong against the President’s attack on women and voting rights under the façade of tackling “fraud.” Republicans know that married women don’t commit “fraud” by taking their husbands’ last names; Trump’s so-called SAVE Act is premised on this lie anyway. The bottom line is this: Americans shouldn’t need a passport to vote. This bill should be renamed the Save Republicans From Defeat Act, as its sole purpose is to insulate Republicans from accountability at the ballot box by making it harder for U.S. citizens to vote.
