MAGA Republicans passed their Big Ugly Bill and signed it into law on the 4th of July in a display of shameful pride and hubris that is completely out of step with the American people’s needs. Although they acted proud to rip away health care and food assistance from up to 20 million Americans in their command performance for Trump in front of the cameras, they know what they did was wrong – and sinful. Our work to defend lifesaving health care and vital assistance for the most vulnerable Americans continues.

Thank you, Volunteers in Politics, for your dedication and hard work over the past 6 months of effective mobilization and phone banking. Because of you, Republicans are on record – claiming they would not act to cut Medicaid and other aspects of our health care only to do the exact opposite on Trump’s orders. By their cruel and monstrous betrayal of the American people, Republicans have set the stage for their electoral reckoning and for Democrats to take back the House in 2026 in a Big Beautiful Blowback for their actions.

Sadly, every single House Republican from California voted to strip health care and food assistance from millions of Americans including their own constituents — putting families in crisis to finance billionaire tax breaks. Every. Single. One. So we are continuing to make sure that their constituents know.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Elections have ramifications. In order for us to make the changes necessary to improve people's lives and provide affordable health care, including Medicaid, and other vital services For The People – Democrats must win the next election. For the rest of the summer, all of us must use our time to set the stage to win in 2026. We must prepare to own August – so that every day takes us closer to a Democratic victory.

A year in advance is when people decide if they are going to run. We want the Republicans' constituents to know that their members of Congress voted to harm them – and we want the Republican members of Congress to know that their constituents know what they have done and are committed to holding them accountable at the ballot box.

Friends, the news of the tragic loss of innocent life and devastation of communities from flash flooding in Texas, New Mexico and North Carolina is truly heartbreaking. Coming together, we pray for the families, rescuers, responders and friends impacted by these calamities and for their safety, healing and well-being as they recover. This morning, it was my joy, alongside San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie, to celebrate the10th birthday of the Presidio Parkway at Tunnel Tops, which serves as a beacon of hope for bipartisan infrastructure that serves all the people. In San Francisco, we are proud of our community’s visionary leadership as a model for the country and are grateful to all who make it possible. I commend the men and women of Labor who channel their tremendous talent, skill and courage to make our transportation and our public infrastructure sustainable and safe for everyone.

While it continues to be a challenging time for our country, we don’t agonize – we organize! And we unionize! With your support, hard work and grassroots people power, Democrats fully intend to take back the House with Hakeem Jeffries as Speaker of the House to put a legislative check on the Republicans cruelty, chaos and corruption. Onward to owning August!
