Help Democrats Take Back The House!
Dear Friends,
We have about 10 weeks to do our part to ensure that we keep our republic, as Benjamin Franklin reminded us to fight for when our Founders established our government of, by and For The People. Two hundred and fifty years later, everything is at stake in this election — including our very Democracy.
Democrats must win back control of the Congress to save our Democracy — and that means creating a contrast with the Republican record of failure and focusing on the kitchen table issues that bring voters to the polls: protecting health care, including Medicaid and Medicare — NOT cutting it; lowering costs for groceries, gas and utilities — NOT tanking our economy with tariffs and costly wars; funding and securing our public schools — NOT gutting HeadStart and the Department of Education; helping small businesses grow and create jobs — NOT giving huge tax breaks to billionaires on the backs of working people; and trusting women to make their own health care decisions — NOT politicians or judges deciding for them.
The best antidote to the Republicans’ poisonous extremism is winning the election. This past week, I had the honor of supporting outstanding candidates from Michigan to South Texas to California who will be the difference in Democrats taking back the House and Senate in the midterms. These candidates know their “why” and are taking their message directly to the people. Together, we are building a Blue Wave with these champions who will deliver for their constituents from Day 1. A Democratic victory will ensure that the next Congress — and the next Speaker of the House — will work for all Americans again. And I believe more deeply than ever that we are going to win and that we can win BIG on November 3rd, because of YOU.
Ahead of the 2018 elections, Republicans tried to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act — and failed because our Democrats in Congress blocked them at every turn. Still, voters fired 40 of them, including 31 Republicans in districts that Trump only two years prior. This time, MAGA House Republicans actually finished the job, ripping coverage from millions of Americans to fund billionaire tax cuts. Right now, Democrats are making sure that voters know that disastrous Republican record so the days of MAGA Republicans rubber-stamping the President’s destructive policies for working families, for our environment and for the children are numbered — and the end to their cruelty, chaos and corruption cannot come soon enough.
MAGA extremists will have a mountain of money to spread lies and stoke fear in the next 10 weeks until Election Day. But because of you, our VIPs — our amazing Volunteers in Politics — we will have the people power that wins close elections. Now is the time to double down on your support and hard work, reach out to your circle of friends and neighbors and keep building toward a great Democratic victory in the spirit of Beloved Community.
Every one of us can insist on 3 NOs from now to November to ensure that victory:
NO wasted time
NO under-utilized resources
NO regrets the day after the election that we could have done more or given more.
As we fight to create a more perfect union, let us be inspired by the abolitionists and suffragists who led the fight and won the right of women to vote with ratification of the 19th Amendment 106 years ago this past Tuesday. Like these courageous and visionary women, WE DON’T AGONIZE — WE ORGANIZE.
