Help Democrats Take Back The House!

The Fierce Urgency To Save Our Democracy

Dear Friends,

Thank you for being on the frontlines of our Democracy and fighting to defend our voices and our values and to Save Our Health Care. Together, we are continuing to help California voters connect with their Republican Representatives in Congress who voted to defund Medicaid — including David Valadao in the Central Valley who broke his vital promise to his constituents with eyes wide open after authoring or signing onto numerous letters detailing the harm that would be caused by the Big Ugly Bill.

Thank you also for rallying support for the Election Rigging Response Act, California’s response to Donald Trump and Republicans stealing House seats from voters in Texas and other compliant MAGA legislatures. I’m pleased that the people’s representatives in the California legislature acted with the fierce urgency of now to protect the integrity of our elections and to empower California voters to fight for and save our Democracy.

Trump and his Republican minions fear they will lose the House after passing a sinful budget that snatches health care and food from their own constituents — including children, seniors, veterans and the most vulnerable among us. The message from voters was clear: hands off Medicaid or pay the price at the ballot box. Republicans slashed Medicaid anyway and have now decided to cheat — to change voting rules with their extreme and illegal gerrymandering in violation of the Voting Rights Act, in the middle of the game. It’s their blatant attempt to avoid accountability for their harm to millions of Americans.

Once again, Republicans are showing their contempt for their constituents — putting politics over people. Democrats won't let them silence voters by redlining the congressional map. Democrats are fighting fire with fire. California’s response to the Texas redistricting power grab is self-defense for Californians and for our Democracy. California’s emergency measure is the first step to Democrats winning the House, to canceling the Republicans cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and SNAP, and to lowering costs for working families.

The American people did not give Republicans a mandate to gut Medicaid, to have their rural hospitals close, to have their insurance premiums increase or to rip away their access to health care altogether. But the American people will vote to have their health care restored and to deliver the House Majority back to Democrats with Leader Hakeem Jeffries as the next Speaker of the House.
