Help Democrats Take Back The House!
Not Backing Down!
Dear Friends,
This past weekend we celebrated the power of our VIPs at our quarterly Politics & Eggs Breakfast in San Francisco – and what a beautiful celebration it was! Over the past six months of the Republicans’ cruelty, corruption and chaos, our amazing Volunteers in Politics made over 300,000 calls to Republican districts to Save Our Health Care. It was my honor to thank many of our VIPs in person and sing their praises to our special guests, Congressman Jaime Raskin of Maryland, Congresswoman Madeline Dean from Pennsylvania and California’s own Congressman David Min.
As the highest ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee and soon to be Chair of that powerful committee when Democrats take back the House in 2026, Congressman Raskin passionately articulated the power that each and every one of us has in this moment to fight for our values and shape a brighter future for our country that honors the vision of our founders, the service and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform and the dreams and aspirations of our children.
In challenging times, I am often asked about what gives me hope to keep fighting. I always say the same thing: young people give me hope. Whenever our nation has faced extreme moral challenge, it’s young people who refused to accept it – including our beloved hero John Lewis who began his Civil Rights journey in high school. Out of tragedy and necessity, Gen-Z has taken up the torch of leadership – mobilizing against gun violence, sounding the alarm on climate and demanding justice.
As disinformation designed to suppress votes runs rampant and bad actors are targeting young people and communities of color with precision and cruelty, Gen Z activists like the incredible young people I spoke to this morning at the Voters Of Tomorrow Summit can be trusted truth-tellers to their peers – and an inspiration to us all.
Republicans know they can't win fair elections after they passed a sinful budget ripping away health care and food from 20 million Americans, so they’re scared of their own voters now. Fair maps are the foundation of free elections and our Democracy, but Texas Republicans are attempting to ram through a new Congressional map on Trump’s direct orders. Know that Democrats are united in fighting this corrupt Republican power grab and ready to fight fire with fire to protect our Democracy and the sanctity of the vote. Democracy wins when every vote counts equally — no matter the outcome.
Make no mistake, Democrats are going to win the House in this next election.
But for that to happen, we must own August by making sure people know that Republicans chose to rip away health care and food from their own constituents and continue to bow down to the whims and orders of a would-be dictator.
At the launch of the 60-hour vigil celebrating 60 years of Medicaid on the Mall in Washington, DC, earlier this week, the crowd was fired up to push back against Mitch McConnell’s prediction that millions of Americans will simply “get over” losing their health care. No Mitch McConnell, we will NEVER get over the Republicans’ $1 trillion cut to Medicaid. If Republicans want to win reelection, they need to get back to work to cancel these cuts.
Republicans are trying to hide from the fallout of their shameful, harmful votes – it’s up to all of us to hold them accountable! So keep phone banking with us, keep showing up for one another and keep sharing your stories. We’re NOT backing down.
More than ever, we don’t agonize – we organize!
