Help Democrats Take Back The House!
Dear Friends,
Growing up, my parents showed our family through their example that public service is a noble calling. They taught us that every person has a spark of divinity — whoever or whatever they happen to be. And most importantly, they taught us that this spark of divinity must be treated with respect — especially if you are blessed to work as a public servant.
We have discussed that our good health, the health of our planet, and even the health of our Democracy are at stake in this election. Whether or not our constitutional republic honors the spark of divinity and the dignity of every person is also at stake in this election.
Republicans in Congress claim to be guided by biblical principles and Christian values, yet their MAGA Republican agenda and record throughout this congressional term read like a point-by-point refutation of the Gospel of Matthew.
“When I was hungry, you gave me food.” They cut $250 billion from SNAP.
“When I was sick, you cared for me.” They slashed $1 trillion from Medicaid and half a trillion from Medicare.
“When I was a stranger, you welcomed me.” They gutted USAID and shut the door on refugees with a rightful claim to asylum.
As Republicans are now focusing on ripping healthcare from even more Americans, understand that the best antidote to their disastrous, destructive and poisonous policies is for Democrats to win the midterms — and win BIG. Democrats must win the House to save our Democracy and that means winning over voters at the kitchen table.
Under Donald Trump’s failed leadership, enabled by MAGA Republicans on the ballot in this election, working families continue to suffer, with the cost of healthcare, groceries, rent, utilities and gas increasingly out of reach. America’s working families literally can’t afford the MAGA Republican economy that fattens the pockets of their wealthy donors at the expense of everybody else.
Democrats will make these midterms a referendum on the President’s failures and, in fewer than 40 days, we will win the House on November 3rd. And on January 3rd, Hakeem Jeffries will be sworn in as the new Speaker of the House to deliver for the American people.
Our Founders believed American Democracy could succeed because they believed in the goodness of the American people — the virtuousness of the American people. You, our Volunteers in Politics, have proven this time and time again by consistently showing up for one another and for our phone banks to mobilize voters. Please, keep up the good work and double down on those efforts from now until November 3rd!
