News From Nancy: Loving and Taking Pride in the LGBTQ+ Community
Help Democrats Take Back The House!
Dear Friends,
Every day, I am proud to represent San Francisco in the House. But it is a special privilege to do so during Pride Month — as I bring our San Francisco values of love, respect, unity, and community wherever I go.
This week has been filled with commemoration and community — the medicine we need in response to the harmful and shameful realities brought by the Trump Administration. As we celebrate Pride Month and approach our nation’s 250th birthday, I salute the patriotism of the LGBTQ+ community for moving us closer to the more perfect union our Founders envisioned. Today, we also remember the 10th anniversary of the Pulse tragedy in Orlando and continue our fight to end anti-LGBTQ+ hate and the scourge of gun violence — during this Gun Violence Prevention Month and every month.
Our Founders believed that Democracy could succeed because they believed in the goodness of the American people. And in the power of the people — all of the people. Our steps toward Equality as a nation have been advanced with the exuberant advocacy, the unrelenting drumbeat for action, and the moral leadership of LGBTQ+ activists, family members, and officeholders nationwide.
This week, we celebrated the extraordinary leadership of the Congressional Equality Caucus and the LGBTQ+ community, which has made America more American. The example of outside mobilization of the LGBTQ+ community and allies should inspire our work now. We know that the President and MAGA Republicans do not care about the suffering of the American people and only want to punish and erase the rights of women, LGBTQ+ communities, and communities of color — taking us back to a history we’ve worked very hard to advance. But we know our power, and are we not going back!
We will vote out Trump’s enablers in Congress this November. We will regain the majority in the House. We will elect Hakeem Jeffries as the next Speaker of the House and fight for an agenda that is in touch with the needs of the American people and advances a larger march toward justice for all.
Thank you for what you have done and are doing to bring forth justice and the Beloved Community — for all.
